AASECT Certified

Certified Sex Therapist and Supervisor — a credential most Utah practices don’t hold.

20+ Years

Natasha Helfer has practiced in sexual health and therapy for more than two decades.

Licensed & Confidential

Licensed clinicians bound by clinical confidentiality, in office or by secure video.

Sex therapy is talk therapy.

It’s a clinical conversation with a trained, licensed therapist about sexual health — the same way you’d talk with a physical therapist about a knee. There is no physical examination, no touch, and no nudity. Ever. For most people, knowing that is what makes the first appointment possible.

Our therapists work with individuals and couples on:

On your own, or together?

Most people aren’t sure which applies to them. Either is a legitimate starting point, and it’s a normal thing to change partway through.

Individual Therapy

For questions about your own history, desire, identity, shame, or behavior — including things you may never have said out loud to anyone. Common when the concern predates the relationship, or when there isn’t one.

Couples Therapy

For desire differences, mismatched expectations, rebuilding after a breach of trust, or intimacy that has quietly stopped. Both partners get heard, and neither one is treated as the problem to be fixed.

Before you reach out ...

What actually happens in a sex therapy session?
You talk. That’s it. A session looks like any other therapy session — two people in a room, or on a video call, having a clinical conversation. There is no physical examination, no touch, no nudity, and no demonstration of anything. If a provider anywhere ever suggests otherwise, that is not sex therapy and you should leave.
Yes — legally protected, and explained in detail in your first session. We don’t report to your employer, your family, or your religious leaders. See the confidentiality section above for the full answer.
AASECT is the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists. Certification requires specific supervised training in sexual health beyond a therapy license, and relatively few clinicians in Utah hold it. It’s the credential to look for when you’re choosing a sex therapist.
[Please supply the accurate answer — accepted plans, superbills for out-of-network reimbursement, and typical self-pay rates. This is one of the top two reasons people don’t complete a booking.]
Yes. We see clients in our Cottonwood Heights office and by secure video anywhere in Utah. [Confirm current licensed states if telehealth extends beyond Utah.]

Most people wait years before making this call.

It's a normal appointment with a licensed clinician.

Whatever brought you to this page, it’s something our therapists have talked through many time before, without surprise and without judgement.
