Sara Rands | ACMHC
Therapist & Wellness Coach | Pronouns: she/her/hers
Sara works with thoughtful, high-functioning adults who’ve spent years relying on logic, and are now ready to feel more, break long-standing patterns, and reconnect with themselves in a deeper way. Many of her clients have insight but still feel stuck, yearning for change they can feel, not just understand.
She works especially well with gifted, neurodiverse, and highly sensitive clients: analytical minds, deep thinkers, and those who’ve always moved through life a little differently. She brings lived wisdom from cancer survivorship, spiritual transitions, and parenting spectrum kids. With a background in both computer science and English, she offers a calm, curious, and focused presence, and a rare ability to hold emotional complexity without simplifying it.
Sara’s primary approach is NARM (the NeuroAffective Relational Model), a present-time, somatic therapy for complex and developmental trauma. What she loves about NARM is its deep respect for agency and its focus on how the past shows up in the present. Rather than retelling trauma stories, NARM invites mindful awareness of what’s happening right now—what the client wants, and what gets in the way. Sara sees it as deeply relational work that helps people reclaim choice and connection, without judgment or pathologizing. For many clients, NARM is the first time they’ve felt truly met.
She’s also Master Certified in ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy), a brain-based trauma therapy known for its speed and effectiveness. ART uses guided imagery to help clients speak directly to the emotional brain, often resolving trauma and distress without having to retell painful stories. Sara finds ART especially powerful for shock trauma, phobias, and intrusive images, and loves how it helps the body start responding in ways that match what the logical mind already knows. It’s gentle, creative, and deeply respectful of the client’s own inner imagery.
For those drawn to deeper work, Sara also offers ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP). She’s continually struck by the power of KAP to access emotional material that’s otherwise hard to reach, and to help clients reconnect with their vitality, insight, and direction. Ketamine opens a window for change by supporting neuroplasticity and providing a sense of safety that makes it easier to face what’s been too painful to touch. Sara is pursuing certification in psychedelic-assisted therapy through Polaris and is committed to offering this work with wisdom, ethics, and a trauma-informed lens.
Whether you’re facing a major life shift, working through long-standing patterns, or simply longing to feel more connected and alive, Sara brings a warm, existential approach, grounded in curiosity, depth, and respect for your unique path.
