Tara Jill Olson | CSW
Therapist| Pronouns: she/her/hers

Tara Jill Olson is an Associate Certified Social Worker (CSW) who approaches therapy from a feminist-multicultural, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive framework. She views healing as a collaborative process, where clients bring their lived wisdom and cultural expertise, and together, client and therapist co-create a space for growth and change.
Tara specializes in supporting adults and emerging adults as they process past or current trauma, navigate difficult life transitions, explore sexual, gender, and identity development, address faith concerns, and navigate intimacy and attachment concerns. She also supports clients struggling with disordered eating, body image, and self-esteem issues, perfectionism, self-harm, and shame.
Tara is deeply committed to serving marginalized communities often excluded from care spaces, including QTBIPOC and the broader LGBTQIA2+ community, people of color, and those living with chronic illness or (dis)ability. As a queer woman of color, she understands how social exclusion and cultural messages about one’s value impact our ability to feel safe in our bodies and in relationships with others. In her practice, she offers radically inclusive care that attends to the sociopolitical forces impacting well-being while honoring the resilience of individuals and communities navigating oppressive contexts. She draws on a range of clinical modalities and socially responsive practices that are solution-focused, non-pathologizing, and strength-based to support each client’s unique needs and self-defined path to healing.
Tara earned a Master of Social Work with an emphasis in Mental Health and an Interdisciplinary Graduate Certificate in Women’s Health from the University of Utah, graduating with Phi Alpha distinction. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Gender Studies, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in English, graduating magna cum laude across all three programs from the same institution. In addition to her clinical work, Tara has held nonprofit leadership roles advancing disability justice and DEI initiatives across the state of Utah. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the LGBTQ+ Affirmative Psychotherapist Guild of Utah.
