Mary Waters | CMHC
Therapist | Pronouns: she/her/hers
At the heart of Mary’s work is reclamation—helping people rediscover their voice and sense of self after seasons of pain or disconnection. She believes that clients are not broken and that therapy is a space to uncover the wholeness already within them.
Mary views therapy as two human beings bringing their strengths, curiosity, and courage into the room. She hopes to offer a space that feels compassionate, grounding, and nonjudgmental—where every part of a person is seen and valued. She is an affirming ally to LGBTQIA+ clients and to people from marginalized communities, committed to creating a space where all identities are honored, respected, and celebrated.
Her primary therapeutic approach is Internal Family Systems (IFS). IFS helps clients understand the different parts within them. Mary emphasizes that these parts are not bad. They are protectors, working hard to keep clients safe, often guarding tender parts that carry old wounds. During sessions, Mary helps clients get to know these parts so they can heal and support healthier ways of being—leaving them more balanced, less reactive, and more connected to their authentic self.
She also integrates somatic and polyvagal practices to calm and regulate the nervous system, ensuring that healing is experienced not only in the mind but also in the body.
Mary is a Clinical Mental Health Counselor in Utah.
